Here is a follow up on the last building you saw in my post.
DO YOU HAVE A DREAM, A VISION OR AN
IDEA?
Have you ever wondered how a building
would turn out if there were no architectural drawings for the proposed
structure? I would hate to imagine what it would look like, and if it were a
residential apartment, I would not want to live in that type of a house, trust
me! If it were a mud hut would be a story for another day (no architectural
drawings back in those ancient days I guess!) How many of us have dreams,
visions, or ideas in our heads? They might very much remain in our heads for
years and years if we do not seek to do something about them.
It needs to be put down, on paper! In the Bible, God told Habakkuk to write down the revelation and make it plain
on tablets (they wrote on
tablets in ancient days).
In
modern times this would of
course mean
writing down your plans on paper or getting
them drawn (if it's something
artistic like a house). It would also mean writing down a business plan if it
is a business idea. I know some of us would love to hate taking these steps
but...this is what helps to put flesh on the things in our minds so that we can see the ideas or dreams
and other people can see them too and work with us where necessary. If you are a
Christian, at this point you can bring these pen on paper ideas to God and tell
Him exactly what you have there so that He can direct you and you need to trust Him to.
Writing things down absolutely helps you not to forget
the stuff you ought to remember, your actions can follow an organized process
and your chances of getting stuck in the middle of the process is minimized
because you have not left out important details! If you are getting married for
instance, it helps to put down the things you need to do as they come to mind,
so that, you don't forget for instance, to arrange for who will handle your car
decorations. You organize your to dos in order of their priority and you can
tick them off as they are accomplished.
RUN WITH IT.
God also told Habakkuk
(well, people don't bear names like this anymore; I want to believe so anyway).
As I was saying, God told Habakkuk (gosh, I couldn't even spell the name right.
Thank God for the technology of spellchecker). Yes he told Him to run with the
written idea. Running here means to take action. You might have gotten
an architect to draw out your building plan or gotten a business professional
to help you with your business plan or like me you might have penned or drawn
out your ideas (a design idea) in a note book. This would help you see the
reality of your idea. Please don't forget to run along with God as you take
action, don't run and leave him behind because, guess what! God is the
originator of good, great, worthy and noble dreams, visions and ideas! So
please let Him run with you (all the way o)!
Running with your written dream also
means making inquiries about who or what can help you actualize your dream,
identifying what things you need to make your vision happen, learning about
your chosen idea or heart's vision, finding out if you can get mentors in the
field, directly or indirectly (you can choose to be mentored by reading the
books your chosen mentor wrote, listening to their sermons or seminars, you
might also wish to study their works.).
DON'T WRITE IT OFF!
IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT
SOMETIMES WE HAVE SOMETHING GOOD IN OUR HEADS THAT WE WANT TO DO AND WE SIMPLY
AND FATALLY WIPE OUT THE IDEA, by saying 'I have not enough money or I do
not have money at all'. You know what? Necessity is the mother of invention!
Let's say you want a fabulous textured wall paper on your kitchen wall and
find that it is way out of your current budget or that there is no space for it
at the top of your priority list. However, you might be an artist or have some
creativity inside of you, or you remember that you have an artist friend who
can for a token or no fee at all simulate (get something close to, even if not
exactly the same as, or maybe better than) the design you wanted by painting it
on your wall. Voila! The budget is lower and you might actually start to get
referrals from people, plus, your kitchen wall is looking great! You can put
your idea down on paper or get a creative friend to do it for you, then look
for a neighbourhood painter with/or an artist friend to help actualize the
design. Let not money stop you! Work with what you have, innovate or get people
to believe in your dream so that they can help you out with their skill, money,
or time. You would be surprised at what you could get!!!
IT TAKES TIME!
God also told Habakkuk that the vision is yet
for an appointed time. Dreams and Visions take time to be accomplished. In
other words, do not expect that everything will just come to reality overnight.
Some life's dreams and visions are realized as you live your life every day,
just like the Christian race which is not a hundred meter dash but a lifelong
race in which certain things need to be accomplished at certain times and
seasons. I WOULD WANT TO SOUND A LOUD NOTE OF
WARNING THAT SOME DREAMS, VISIONS, AND IDEAS NEVER COME TO REALITY, BECAUSE THE
DREAMER DREAMT, THE VISIONER SAW, THE IDEA WAS CONCEIVED BUT ABSOLUTELY NO
ACTION WAS TAKEN TO BRING ANYTHING TO REALITY OR ACTUALIZATION!!!!!!!!!Okay,
don't look the other way, I won't too because most of us dunnit one way or the
other. We neglected our dreams our visions, we let them die. Wake up! Oh
sleeper and take ACTION!!! (and that goes to me too.)

verses 2 and 3
May we not just be dreamers. Reminds me of my school motto,Action not Words.
ReplyDeleteYes Ayo, let's do what we need to do now,so that in future we don't start to blame ourselves for not even trying. Let's not give up too!
ReplyDeleteAwesome post. I love the way u used scripture to show how God tells us to dream, visualize, articulate, act, persist and above all put Him first in all things. God bless u richly for sharing this
ReplyDeleteThank you Sir Fagade, from your positive feedback, am encouraged to write more stuff. This write-up is great advice for me too, to get up and achieve my God given dreams and stop making up 'a hundred and one reasons' why I can't.
